European Schoolnet

European Schoolnet or EUN is a network of 31 Ministries of Education in Europe and beyond. EUN was created more than 10 years ago with the aim to bring about innovation in teaching and learning to its key stakeholders, these being Ministries of Education, schools, teachers and researchers.

Contents

Policy, research and innovation

European Schoolnet works on how ICT can support change in teaching and learning. Together with its members, EUN identifies evidence, best practice and emerging priorities in education in Europe. The organisation produces country reports which highlight the major trends and policies in today’s education systems in terms of ICT. Through various research projects and networks of pilot schools and local coordinators across Europe, European Schoolnet carries out studies on topics such as the use of games in schools, internet safety, use of learning objects and many other topics.

School services

European Schoolnet works as a European platform for schools to achieve effective use of technologies in teaching and learning, promote the European dimension in education, develop new pedagogical approaches and equip teachers and learners with new skills and raise interest in subjects such as maths, science and technology. Many thousands of schools are engaged in our programmes. European Schoolnet has particularly worked on enhancing cooperation across Europe between schools, as the coordinator of the EU's eTwinning Central Support Service and the promotion of the European dimension in education (myEurope, Spring Day for Europe).

Learning resource exchange and interoperability

The Learning Resource Exchange (LRE) from European Schoolnet is a service that enables schools to find educational content from many different countries and providers. It includes content from Ministries of Education (MoE) and other partners that have participated with European Schoolnet (EUN) in EC-funded projects such as CALIBRATE, MELT and ASPECT projects and is now being carried forward in current projects such as iTEC and eQNet and with support from the LRE’s content partners.

Anyone is able to browse content in the LRE federation of repositories and teachers that register can also use LRE social tagging tools, rate LRE content, save their favourite resources and share links to these resources with others.
